Ongoing Events, Groups, Classes & Retreats
At the Durango Dharma Center, we offer a variety of programs. Monday night sits are our most popular offering, with a 25- to 30-minute sitting meditation followed by a dharma talk. Other regular weekly and monthly drop-in groups take place on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. We also have regular kalyana mitta (spiritual friends) groups: These are welcoming affinity groups where people share common interests and identities supported by the Buddha’s teachings.
Throughout the year, our Dharma Council offers beginning meditation classes, courses on the deeper teachings of Buddhism, and other classes that explore the dharma of topics such as parenting, understanding and deconstructing whiteness, Buddhist psychology, loving-kindness, and the teachings on emptiness.
The Dharma Center also offers meditation retreats in support of deepening practice. We regularly offer
daylong and non-residential retreats. In our dedication to offer diverse teachings, our retreats are offered by dharma teachers from across the country. Past guest teachers have included Guy Armstrong, Sally Armstrong, Carol Wilson, James Baraz, DaRa Williams, Matthew Brensilver, Brian Lesage, Noliwe Alexander, and Eugene Cash.
