Awareness is your refuge

A DAYLONG RETREAT With katherine barr

Saturday, December 9 from 9 am to 4 pm

“Awareness is your refuge: awareness of the changingness of feelings, of attitudes, of moods, of material change and emotional change. Stay with that because it’s a refuge that is indestructible; It’s not something that changes; it’s a refuge you can trust in.…. When you are mindful, you’re beginning to notice: ‘it’s like this’.” -Ajahn Sumedho

Please join us on this daylong retreat as we gently explore and cultivate the courage to be open and present. In a moment of presence, there is freedom. Away from our usual busyness and obligations, there is an invitation “to put down all you know, to set aside your story and live from what remains,” says Rabbi Rami Shapiro.

Through sitting and walking meditation, short Dharma talks and the preciousness of silence, we will have the opportunity to relax, observe and allow with beginner’s mind.

This daylong retreat is suitable for new and experienced meditation practitioners. All are welcome.

COST: The cost for the retreat is on a sliding scale of $25-$45. Financial assistance is available by contacting Terry Leonard at tleonard@frontier.net or 970-799-0084. We kindly ask those seeking financial assistance to reach out to Terry prior to registering because offering refunds is difficult with our system. Thank you!

Registration fees support the Durango Dharma Center. This retreat is offered on the basis of dana, a practice of mutual generosity that has been alive since the time of the Buddha. At the end of the retreat, there will be an opportunity to offer a donation to the teacher.
