INTRODUCTION TO MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

Practicing meditation brings a new sense of calm into our lives, creating greater ease and less reactivity in the face of life's stresses and challenges. Learn the basics of mindfulness meditation in this five-week introductory class series, which will include talks, discussions, guided meditations, and homework. The class, led by Bill Ball, is open to new as well as experienced meditators who may be looking for a refresher.
DATES: Wednesdays, Sept. 27 and Oct. 4, 11, 18, and 25 from 6:00-7:30 pm
VENUE: Durango Dharma Center, 1800 East 3rd Ave.
COST: $20. Financial assistance is available by contacting Terry Leonard, whose info is below. Registration fees support the Durango Dharma Center. This class is offered on the basis of dana, a practice of mutual generosity that has been alive since the time of the Buddha. Those offering the teachings rely on the generosity and donations of retreat participants to support their valuable work in this world. The suggested donation to the teacher is $40-$60 for the whole series, which can be offered at any time during the class.

MORE ABOUT BILL BALL: Bill has been in meditation practice for 25 years and has been influenced primarily by the vipassana traditions of southeast Asia. He completed the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader program and has been one of the dharma leaders at the Durango Dharma Center for 15 years. Bill has a Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and a Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University Graduate School of Social Work.
